How To Maintain Your Land Rover Car: Servicing, Repair & Maintenance Advice

Owning a Land Rover is a rewarding experience, but it can also be expensive. Aside from the initial large payment for the car, Land Rover car parts can be very expensive if something needs to be repaired. That’s why we’ve put together this blog to help guide you through maintaining your Land Rover, including servicing, repairs and maintenance advice.

Always Be Mindful Of Your Brakes

The proper functioning of your Land Rover’s brakes must always be a priority. Proper maintenance of your brakes is crucial to your safety and the safety of other road users.

Fortunately, your Land Rover is equipped with incredible technology which is constantly checking your car for any complications. These issues usually appear on your dashboard as warning lights and should be looked into immediately.

A very serious one that should never be ignored is your ABS warning light. The ABS warning light indicates a problem with the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), which could affect your ability to brake safely in an emergency.

Potential Causes: Faulty wheel speed sensors, malfunctioning ABS pump, low brake fluid level, etc.

Recommended Action: Take this warning seriously! Driving with a faulty ABS is dangerous. Stop driving immediately and have your car towed to us or your nearest qualified Land Rover mechanic for diagnosis and repair.

Here are some tips for maintaining your Land Rover car brakes:

  • Have your brakes inspected by a qualified Land Rover mechanic at least once a year or every 12,000 miles.
  • Pay attention to warning signs, such as grinding noises, pulsating brake pedals, or increased stopping distances.
  • Replace your brake pads and rotors when they become worn or damaged.
  • Use the correct type of brake fluid for your Land Rover.
  • Avoid overloading your Land Rover, as this can put extra strain on the brakes.

Check Your Land Rover Oil Levels

Checking the oil levels in your Land Rover car is a crucial aspect of routine maintenance that directly contributes to the overall health and longevity of your vehicle. Engine oil serves as the lifeblood of your Land Rover’s powerplant, playing a pivotal role in lubricating its intricate components, reducing friction, and dissipating heat.

Regularly monitoring oil levels ensures that your engine operates within the optimal temperature range and remains adequately lubricated, preventing excessive wear and tear. Low oil levels or degraded oil can lead to increased friction, overheating, and potential engine damage.

By adhering to a consistent oil-checking routine, you not only safeguard your Land Rover’s performance but also contribute to a smoother and more efficient driving experience. Maintaining the exceptional performance standards that define Land Rover driving is made possible by this simple yet essential practice.

The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Warning Light

Modern Land Rover diesel vehicles (ones made in 2019 onwards) will have been built with a diesel particulate filter (DPF).

Your car’s diesel particulate filter captures and stores exhaust soot which helps to reduce harmful emissions into the air. As with all filters, the DPF has finite capacity and over time it becomes blocked which leads to serious issues for your car.

A clogged DPF filter can cause increased emissions, reduced engine performance, increased

fuel consumption and damage to the engine. As well as a failed MOT.

It is illegal to remove your DPF, doing so can result in a fine, and an invalid insurance policy.

Pay Attention To Your Wheels & Tyres

Your wheels and tyres, like your brakes, need regular maintenance to keep you safe, your passengers and others on the road safe. The legal tread depth of your tyres is 1.6 mm in the UK, but it’s best to get your car booked in to replace your tyres before they get this low

Not only is having bald tyres dangerous, but your Land Rover will also fail an MOT if it is below the minimum tread depth. You can book your car in for an MOT here.

Land Rover Battery Maintenance

Battery care for your Land Rover keeps your luxury vehicle running smoothly and efficiently. Your battery acts as the electrical core of your Land Rover. It powers the starter motor and ignition system, as well as many other electronic systems.

Regular battery maintenance for your Land Rover helps to extend the lifespan of your battery and reduces the risk of unexpected breakdowns. Here are a few key reasons why battery maintenance is essential for your Land Rover:

  • Reliable starting
