If your Land Rover or Jaguar runs on a Diesel engine and is newer than 2009, your car is likely fitted with a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), this is a filter fitted to your car that captures and stores exhaust soot, in order to reduce the CO2 emissions from your vehicle, for the benefit of the environment.
It is illegal to remove your DPF on your vehicle and will count as a modification to the origional specification of the car, doing so can result in a fine, failed MOT, and an invalid insurance policy.
